SAMPLE SCRIPT

THE PRESS

YOR FIRST & PRIMARY CONTACT

 

 

Hello, this is (your name) calling from Yellow Pages Opinion Research.  This is a courtesy call to see if you have a Yellow Pages directory?”  (Go to Question #1).

 

1.         “Do you use either an internet Yellow Pages or a Yellow Page print directory once, twice, or more than             twice a month?”

a.                   Once or twice per month  (Go to Q. #2)

b.                   More than twice per month  (Go to Q. #2)

c.                   Zero or Don’t Know  (Go to A.)

 

2.        “Did you purchase a product or service within the last month as a result of using the Yellow Pages?”

a.                   Yes  (Go to A.)

b.                   No or Don’t Know  (Go to A.)

 

A.         “As a thank you for your time and to introduce you to your new neighborhood, we’d like to give you 4 weeks of the Sunday Cleveland Press.  It does stop automatically at the end of the 4 weeks so there’s no obligation to continue.  Do you already subscribe to the paper?”  (If Yes, go to C.  If No, Continue:)  “Your address is (check complete address)?  Is there an apartment number?  May I have your first name please? And your last name is              ?”*   (If customer objects, go to D.  If customer doesn’t object, go to B.)

 

B.         “The 4 week gift of the Cleveland Press will start either next Sunday or the Sunday after that.  If you have any questions regarding your gift or your delivery, please call the Cleveland Press.  Thank you and I hope you enjoy the newspaper.  Goodbye.”

 

C.         ALREADY RECEIVING PAPER

“I’m sorry but the gift is only valid for non-subscribers.  Thanks again for answering our questions.  Goodbye.”

 

D.         CUSTOMER DOESN’T WANT GIFT

“I’ve had a lot of people tell me this, but since it’s free they take it for the trial period to see how they like the paper.  It does stop automatically so can we get the gift paper started for you?”  (If customer doesn’t object, verify name and address if you haven’t already done so, and go to B.  If customer objects, say:  “Thank you.  Goodbye.”)

 

 

* If the last name can not be easily pronounced, try spelling it.
